Display Contract Management Portlets In Oracle Primavera P6 Web Access

It is possible to connect an Oracle Primavera Contract Management Project to a P6 EPPM Project so that you can display Contract Management portlets in the Oracle Primavera P6 Web Access application. From there, you can access Contract Management to make changes, and then view the changes in the Web Application.  This functionality is only available in Contract Management Versions 10.1 or higher.

When setting up a connection between a Contract Management project and a P6 EPPM module project, you must set the Admin Preferences in P6 EPPM to enable the connection. You must also have a valid Contract Management username and password.

Once you have enabled the connection, you can choose the project to link with the P6 Web Access application either in the P6 Web Access application itself, or in the P6 EPPM module.

The following instructions assume that you already created a project in the P6 EPPM module. This topic provides the following information:

To set up the Admin Preferences in P6 EPPM to enable the connection:

To set up a connection between a P6 EPPM project and a Contract Management project, do the following:

  1. Go to Start, Programs, Oracle-Primavera, and select Program Management. Log on to the P6 EPPM module.

  2. Click either Open Existing, and choose the project, or click Open Last to open the last project.

  3. On the Home page, go to Admin, Admin Preferences, Options.

  4. In the Link to Contract Management section, mark the Enable Link to Contract Management check box, and enter http:// and the URL for the server on which Contract Management is installed (http://10.12.14.168 in this example). Click the Close button when done.

Notes:  

For http, the default port number is 80, but you do not have to enter it. If you are not going to use port 80, you must enter the port number (or name, or IP address). For example: http://10.12.14.168:110.

For https, the default port number is 443. You  must always enter the port number, including the default port number, at the end of the URL. For example: https://10.14.16.189:443

To select the Contract Management project from P6 EPPM:

After performing steps 1 through 5 in the "To Set up the Admin Preferences in P6 EPPM to enable the connection" section, do the following to select the project from P6 EPPM:.

  1. On the P6 EPPM Home page, click Projects in the left pane to display the Projects window.

  2. In the Projects list, navigate to the project you want to link, and click it to highlight it. This displays the Project Details tabs at the bottom of the window.

  3. If the Contract Management tab is not displayed, right click on the General tab, and choose Customize Project Details to display the Project Details pop-up dialog box.

  4. On the Project Details pop-up dialog box click Contract Management , and use the right-facing arrow to add Contract Management to the Display Tabs list. Click the OK button.

  5. Click the Contract Management tab.

  6. Mark the Allow this Project to link with a Contract Management Project checkbox.

  7. In the Group name: Project Name field, click the browse button ( browse_button.gif ) at the right side of the Group Name: Project Name field. On the pop-up login box, enter the Contract Management username and password, and then click the OK button.

Note:  If an identical username and password already exists in both Contract Management and P6 EPPM, this pop-up login box will not display. Instead, the Select Contract Management Project pop-up menu displays.

  1. On the Select Contract Management Project pop-up menu, double click the project name to select the project. the Group Name:Project Name field fills with the Group Name and Project name.

To select the Contract Management project from Oracle Primavera P6 Web Access:

Before you can set up the connection to Contract Management in P6 Web Access application, you must complete the steps for setting the connection in P6 EPPM (as described in the previous section).

Launch the P6 Web Access application that has the project you want to connect with Contract Management , and do the following:

  1. Click the Project button at the top of the Workspace, navigate to the project that you want to link to a Contract Management project, and click the name of the project to open it.

  2. Select the Details tab, and click the Settings link.

  3. In the Contract Management Link section, do one of the following:

  1. Click Save.

  2. On the Workspace tab, click the Customize link, and then mark the checkboxes in the Contract Management section that you want to display. When finished, click Save and Close.
